Oregon East Symphony’s 2012 Young Artist Competition Winner, Elizabeth Field, fell in love with Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1. “When I first heard the (Liszt) piece, I was attracted to the playful dance quality and loved listening to it. When I had the opportunity to perform the piece, I jumped at the chance.” Audience members will have a chance to enjoy Field’s performance this Saturday evening, March 2 at 7:30 pm in the Vert Auditorium. Field is currently a student at Walla Walla University and studies piano with Dr. Leonard Richter, Professor of Music at Walla Walla University.
The Oregon East Symphony will also perform Piotr Illyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 and
Entry of the Gods into Valhalla by Richard Wagner with OES conductor and music director, Dr. Anthony Spain. Spain calls the concert program a terrific event; “The Tchaikovsky 5th Symphony is one of the most exciting and popular pieces in all of classical music. The ending is thrilling and with 60 musicians on stage, it will take the roof off the Vert.” Spain added, “This is a great concert for any music lover in the area – great music and great wine at the end of the concert. You can’t go wrong with that.”
Following the concert will be a reception to celebrate Oregon East Symphony’s 27th Season, in the Vert Club Room. Audience members and musicians are invited to enjoy complimentary wine and refreshments, provided by Great Pacific Wine and Coffee Company.
OES is grateful to “Twilight of the Romantics” concert sponsors Bob and Trina Caster, Leland and Roberta Jones, Wanda Wyrick, David and Virginia Lindburg, and Carolyn Frasier.
